Serpentine belt replacement

Asked by GuruCV7QV Feb 13, 2019 at 02:04 PM about the 2008 Mercury Milan I4 Premier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My old serpentine belt came off and I
bought new one from Auto Zone and I've
followed diagram given by auto zone and
it seems after I put it on all pulleys I have
about 5 " of slack left over.     Is Auto Zone
not have the correct belt for my 08
Mercury Milan premier 2.3 ltr. Automatic 4
cylinder  ?

If you know for a fact that you followed the diagram correctly then you have the wrong belt. Compare the old and new belts.
