Look all around under the hood for a yellow handled dipstick or black dipstick with yellow "TRANS" or "TRANS FLUID" on it. I would also have you look it up on "www.CHILTONS.com" under the model year and style of auto to see what other information they might be able to give you.

Yours will have a plug screwed into the front of the trans near the coolant lines. It has an 11 mm [7/16] head. Unscrew it then check the level by finding if the fluid is to the hole. It's topped off by removing a cap on top of the trans and adding fluid until it starts to run out the side hole, with the engine off. Your owner's manual should list all this.

Yep thats it I do not know why they went to that system but I do know it pisses alot of people off. I think they started that in the early 2000's for some reason. Just to get you to pay the dearlership or tranny shop to check the fluid and to me thats just sick

My 1996 Acura has roughly the same set up.

And this hassle is just to check my ATF?
