Try moving the shift lever a little to be sure its properly in park if its an automatic. Make sure the floor mat isn't bunched up under the clutch pedal if its a standard. There are various lock out solenoids and safety switches involved so the car can't be started accidentally. If one of them is not working it won't go. Also if you have a security system, factory or otherwise it may have somehow activated and is preventing you from "stealing" your own car.
