Just bought chrysler aspen 5.7 hemi and was showing 16 avg. mpg. First week it drove beautiful. A week later it suddenly dropped down to 12.6 avg. mpg why a sudden change with normal driving?
Not sure, the MPG listed for your vehicle is 13mpg city, 18 highway. Clear the MPG on the next fuel fillup and see what you get.
Some of my customers have told me that they get better MPG when they run premium fuel in their Hemi's, can't verify it though.
A higher Octane will give you better MPG. Also , sometimes they will put an additive in such as an Octane Booster just to sell you on the computer reading that the vehicle is getting good MPG at the time of the sale. Maybe you have a good old LEAD FOOT !!! Good Luck....
Furthermore, Ethanol burns very fast.
I was talking to a guy that has a Hemi in his truck and he says that he is running premium fuel plus StaBil Marine additive, he said that he has noticed an increase in mileage and power but the slight ping he would get under full throttle has disappeared. He started running the SatBil Marine when he started putting it in his boat and noticed it would plane out quicker and pulled a skier up faster. So that stuff might be worth a try also.
