Oil change

Asked by Feb 20, 2016 at 08:39 AM about the 2008 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a Camry 2008 LE. It has 65,000 miles. The oil change was done at
the dealer. I reside in Puerto Rico. I do not know what type of oil they were
using in the dealer. My question is what type of oil you recommend I used,
since I will start changing the oil my self. Also, if the dealer was using
conventional oil can i used synthetic. If you recommend synthetic what
should be the milage interval. Thanks inadvance for your assistance in this
matter.

Most probably the dealership added 5W-20 conventional oil, which is recommended. The change interval should be around 5000 miles. If you switch to synthetic I would up the change interval to 7500 miles. You will get many different opinions if you should switch, but its a personal preference. IMO, not a big advantage for regular daily driving. As long as you change your oil regularly, the type is not important.

Thank you very much.
