Question regarding Ford Explorer center-dash light being out.
I have a 2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. The lights behind the center-dash console are out. The radio is illuminated, but the ac/heat, 4x4 and other buttons are not. Is there a way to replace the light or is there a fuse? In the picture provided, the lights below the vents do not illuminate and cannot be seen at night.
Please note, I checked for a dimmer switch. My gauges are all illuminated and the radio is illuminated. It wouldn't make sense for there to be a separate dimmer for just the buttons below the vents.
You'll most likely need to replace the button assembly. On most newer vehicles the illumination bulbs are not replaceable. I'd pull the assembly out first and check for a bad electrical connection before spending the money to change the whole thing. HTH. -Jim
where can I find instructions on how to get to the button assembly?
You can try your local auto parts store for a repair manual or see if your local repair shop has access to Mitchell On Demand. If so they can print out the instructions. HTH. -Jim
