Can 2008 Eddie Bauer Explorer be flat towed?
I would strongly recommend NOT towing the Ford Explorer the way you planned..it's NOT good for the tranny or the tires...Instead, ante up a little cash and do it the safe way and keep all 4 wheels elevated and off the ground with a tow dolly, like the one pictured here that U-Haul rents: http://www.uhaul.com/Reservations/EquipmentDetail.aspx?model=AT
To be blunt NO you will damage the transfer case internals and the transmission. Do like Racer stated. You can use a tow Dollie under the front wheels if you disconnect the rear drive-line from the rear end.
the two wheel drives can be flat towed. you need to have a driveline disconnect installed. the 4wd can also be flat towed, it requires a transfer case auto neutral switch. the awd cannot be flat towed.
