The LL Bean edition is a certain color combo and interior trim. Similar to the Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorers. The Anniversary edition is simply to commemorate Subaru's (I believe) 25th anniversary of US car sales. All of these option packages stem from the 1970s, when dealer margins were dropping, and manufacturers wanted to find a way to get people to pay more for a vehicle and put the money in the dealer's pockets. A good example is the Levi Jeans edition of the AMC Gremlin. It was a Gremlin with denim seat material from Levi's. It cost a few thousand more than a regular Gremlin, but it was all profit, since no one else had a "Levi's" edition of anything.
