Difference between 18" and 20" tires ?
Have to replace tires on my 2008 Tahoe LTZ having P265/65R18-112S tires.
I am told that I can select a 20" tires also, what is the difference ?
2 inches. Sure, you can select 20" tires but remember you will have to buy wheels also, and your speedometer will be off. For each turn of the wheel you will be going a little further than the wheel speed sensors 'think' when you go to a larger overall diameter. Other than that you should have no problems, just the added expense if you are willing to pay for four new rims that you will have to have
If you buy the same profile tire and go to 20" your speedometer will be off by 6.8%.. if your speedo shows 60 you are going 64 (round numbers)
I was going to say "About 2 inches". The guys ahead of me gave you great info. This will also affect the MPG, stopping distance and the amount of pressure put on all the equipment on your axles (brakes, axles, struts, shocks and the like). Otherwise, I don't see any real issues. It'll definitely make the car look very, very nice.
