MY BUICK LUCERNE WONT START , TRIES TO CRANK OVER, IS IT THE FUEL PUMP
Clarify please, it cranks over but won't start or it it won't crank over?
It won't crank over
If it won't crank then you have a voltage problem to the starter or the starter itself. Try this: turn on the headlights if the headlight turn on, then try cranking the engine, if the headlights go out then you have a voltage problem, could be a bad cable or a battery.
After some research the fuel pump relay was replaced but Lucern quit again. seat was pulled again and further inspection revealed the seat latch AND the seat bottom were pushing the fuse box both down and back, and with a good amount of force. My friend suggested moving the fuse box both down and back. He used the lower mounting bolt on the driver side and drilled a hole and screwed down the passenger side of the fuse box. The leftover nuts were reinstalled back onto unused mounting studs in case a future modification is necessary.
May have located another problem. Possibly voltage is too low. After putting charger to car fuel pump started working. These cars have a lot of battery draw when they're sitting, if they sit too long the car will crank but there is not enough voltage to activate the fuel pump.
