Asked by Jan 16, 2015 at 04:07 PM about the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: General

I have a 2008 grand prix base. V6 3.8. I
have just a stock radio in my car but
have found that GM made a " radio
stereo navigation mp3 cd player" for the
2007-2008 grand prix. Can this fit in my
car? What all would I need for this to fit
in my car and where can I buy all of this
from. My local GM deal was no help at
all.

You need to determine if your car has the correct wiring harness in it in order to plug the replacement stereo in. Even if you don't it may be possible to retrofit it. That is not the sort of thing the dealership usually gets into but a good car stereo shop should be able to advise you. The electrical systems in modern cars are extremely sensitive and even simple modifications need to be done with care. Do your homework first.

I would call some stereo and electronics stores that do car stereo installations. It may take a few calls because some of them won't be keen to help you since you're not planning to buy anything although if you are prepared to at least pay them to do the installation for you they may be more helpful. There is also a seller on Ebay who specializes in original equipment radios etc. They have lots of useful information and a phone number. If you Google discountoemradios and E-bay I'm sure you'll find them.
