2008 Pontiac Grand Prix rack n pinion issue after transmission rebuild

We have a 2008 Pontiac Grand
Prix 3.2 engine. Had the
transmission rebuilt around 7
months ago. Started having
having power steering issues 3
months after that. Replaced
power steering pump. Turned out
it was the rack n pinion. There
was a worn spot on the high
pressure line. Replaced the rack
n pinion.. worked for about 3
weeks with no issue. Started
spewing power steering fluid
again from what appears to be
the same spot on the rack n
pinion. Could the transmission
shop failed to put something
back on that is causing the
another component to cause this
issue? Motor mounts? Bracket?
Find it odd that there was no
issue til after the transmission
was rebuilt.

This is absolutely a possibility. Removing and installing the transmission is a major job involving the subframe being removed and reinstalled. The subframe is basically what holds the engine and transmission in the car. The bolts, which are very large, that hold the subframe in place are one time use only and must be replaced once removed. It's also very possible that a motor mount or transmission mount is not properly lined up because of the transmission work. Personally I'd let your local GM Dealer have a look at it to see why the power steering hose is not rubbing on something when it wasn't before the transmission job. Jim
