how to change a rack and pinion in a 2008 hyundai sonata 2,4L

Asked by Apr 10, 2016 at 04:46 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Sonata GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I think my rack is leaking in my 2008 sonata and want to know if you can
tell me how to change it myself. Is fluid supposed to be in the boot?
Any info on this matter would be of great help. Car only has 62K on it
wouldn't think the rack would be bad, but it made a whining noise and it
was maybe a tablespoon low on fluid put a little in it and noise stopped.
Took clamp off of boot to look and see if fluid in it and there was about the
amount I put in it. So suspecting maybe bad rack. I am a mechanic but an
older one so not up to par on the newer cars.
