Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How often are the 2008 Ford Escape XLT V6 stolen or how easy is it to steal one. A car got stolen from my work parking lot last Monday in broad daylight, and it makes me wonder if I should invest in extra car alarm protection.

Supposedly Ford has included an "Engine Immobilizer" with the Escape XLTs but I don't know how good they are or how they activate? How do you activate the immobilizer? Is it passive and arms with the factory alarm or do you have to activate it with a switch somewhere?

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you try to start the car with anything other than a key it will kill the engine that's what the immobiliser does
