2008 chevy silverado 3500 with duramax engine and speedometer, tach and volt metter pegs out. vehicle runs good otherwise. any ideas what would cause this condition

when driving at highway speed of about 70 mph the speedometer, tachometer and volt meter pegs out and vehicle runs normal.  any idea what could cause this condition

Could be a bad ground for the cluster, but I think it may be in the charging system controls, if I remember correctly they are controlled by the ECM on this truck.
