2000 Dakota. I can't find any info on what a couple of boxes on either side of the engine compartment near hood hinges are....there are three lights on the one on the drivers' side. At the moment the center is green, and the other two are blinking red. I absolutely can't read what the lettering says....I managed to see what I think is anode one and anode two on the two blinking lights, but not sure. When I tried to wipe the dirt off, I discovered that the actual lettering was coming off!!! There are white electrical connections on them (haven't tried to trace them)...but can find nothing in any books or on net that says anything about anodes. The truck is killing batteries. New one died in one month. Managed to get it started with alt battery, but won't idle. Now battery won't charge. Also...engine light...code P0455: EVAC Emission Control Suystem Leak (Large).
I got some pictures of the boxes...can only post one here, I guess, so this shows the red lights, and the end of the word anode 1 (upside down) next to bottom light...Have no idea what the middle green light reads. Another box on opposite side of engine compartment has no lights....took picture, but can't get writing! I hope someone here can tell me what these things are, and what, if anything, they might have to do with the other problems. Thank you!
