Replaced a Battery now my Low Beams don't operate

Asked by Feb 14, 2017 at 02:10 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Ext. Cab SB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I was having starting issues recently on my 07 Silverado. I noticed colder
days were sapping my Battery. Having to jump start the truck almost on an
every day level for a week. So I decided to remove the positive terminal to
see if the truck would still run. It did, so I ruled out the alternator. Must just
be the battery. Easy swap out and the truck fired right up. Now the trucks
running good but my low beams left and right dont work. Did a fuse check
and everything looks good. What would cause the low beams to not work
after a battery install? Heap lamps are Halo lighting LED projection
lamps,H3 Bulbs. The LED and Halo lighting works. The high beams engage
when switched on. Just no low beams??? Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Doing what you did could have messed up the BCM's programming, it controls all the accessories in your truck, when you remove a battery cable from a running engine is causes a voltage spike in the charging system that can fry electronics instantly, a customer of mine did that on his car and it cost him a bundle to get running again. Another problem with late model vehicles is you need a saver tool before any main power work is performed or you can and do loose all the factory presets. You are most likely going to windup a the dealer to get the system reflashed with the latest updates, that should bring the headlight back to operational status. HTH

Thx for the information. There defiantly was a power spike. Your response was truly helpful. Turns out after flashing the system everything seemed smooth electrical wise. Head lamps didn't come back on...so i pulled the bulbs. Both blew out with the power spike. Lesson learned. Will not be doing that again. Thx again! -A-

Luck was with you. That could have been a lot worse.
