I have a 91 automatic ls da and I go to start it and everything is fine until I try to put it into drive button does not go down only way to put it into drive is put key into shift lock insert

cant put car into drive ? have to hold down button after I insert it into shift lock key insert

check your brake light fuse. and if thats good check to see if they turn on when you hit the brakes. if they work then check the solenoid in the center console next to the shifter
