Hi my 2004 mazda rx8 starts really well when engine is cold but has problem starting when the engine is hot . It will start after several goes . Quetion is does any one know whats wrong please help
My beloved 2004rx8 wont start when the engine is hot , will start after resting for 10-
15min or after several goes trying to start it . First thing in the morning its fine go for a
slow short drive stop restart fine, go for a fast drive stop engine try restart doesn't start
straight away . Had new sparks coils , leeds
May need to check the coil,if it is not a firing problem, may need to check fuel pressure to rule out fuel pump.
Apex seals, every 30k like clock work on these Rotary engines.
My advice would be to drive it like you stole it. Rotary's need some rapping to keep them clean of carbon. Also use some royal purple injector atomizer or lucas fuel system cleaner. The reason I say this, other then a lot of research, is that My 2005 RX8 would take up to ten tries to star, hot or cold, after I baught it used. From the start I got the RPM's close to red line at least once a day and drove it as hard as the law would allow. About a month ago I was making a short trip with the car warmed up and it started running with slightly less power, then when I arrived at my destenation it tries to die on me. I shut it off thinking oh crap the feared rotory death has come. But when I restarted it it ran fine, maybe better then before. Every since then it has started every time the first time. My only idea about what happened is that it had some stubborn carbon bould-up and it suddenly came loose. Morale of the story, use those high RPM's as often as you safely can, and keep everything clean.
