I have not driven my 2006 bmw x5 in months. The drivers door will not unlock.remote also dead. Is there another key hole somewhere?
The drivers door handle was messed with some trying to break into the car-messing up
the handle. Is there a second keyhole somewhere?. I cannot find one.
Might be as simple as replacing the remote. Stop in your local BMW dealership for one. I always make sure I have at least 2 at any given time. There is no other key hole on the car. Your next option is to call roadside assistance for them to open the car manually. I'd then have the keyhole repaired and get a set of new keys.
You have the diamond-shaped key, correct? You can replace the battery on those. There are several guides/videos online, just search around. You will need to cut around the seal carefully, because the battery is not meant to be replaced. I had the same problem with my '03 X5.
Thanks for the info... .., I checked with BMW in Dallas and they needed the vin# and told me that the battery in the remote cannot be changed on this model. Will try getting a new remote and will have to have it programmed.
