2001 chevrolet tahoe lt 4wd malfunctioning fuel gage

Asked by Jan 20, 2008 at 12:38 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

seems to be an electrical short with the fuel gage. It seems to be effected by electrical surges from other components. ei: the interior lights turning off, accellerator being pressed, door opening. Any info on causes or repair would be helpful. you can fill the tank all the way up and it will read empty. then start driving and it will jump to full or open the door and the courtesey lights come on and it jumps back and forth as well. the truck has 137,500 miles on it. Thanks

Well I would say you have a bad ground or a live wire shorting out some were in your truck. it might also be your cluster going bad. I would get it checked as soon as possible to prevent any more expences. best of luck, hope this helps.
