My truck will not shift out of first gear. Can anyone
tell me what the problem may be

I'm not a mechanic and I don't know one. This is the first time it has done this

There are shift solenoids in the trany that could be the problem, fixable without removing the transmission. Should find a trany shop to have it looked at.
