I ran out of gas in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe then put over a quarter of a tank in it and its turning over but will not start what the hell could be a problem

If you ran it out of gas...this is bad.. The fuel keeps the pump cool and if you run it out the pump in the tank gets hot and can go break....Wait a while then try again...I have seen it go both ways...good luck, a new pump in the tank is a little high. You have to drop the tank to repair.

Fuel pumps tend to overheat and go bad after being run out of fuel. Check fuel rail for proper fuel pressure. Also advise to replace fuel filter due to trash from bottom of tank being picked up when ran out of fuel. If this is a vortec engine do not do the old school test of spraying any kind of starter fluid or gas into the intake. Cause if you do and it happens to back fire thru the intake you will be putting a new intake on. Blew mine all over my back yard. They are plastic and have spider injectors in them.

Got a new battery, and put in a 1/4 of tank of gas. will turn over but no fire. there is a smell of the gas at the intake. did try to prime by using the switch and did it for 10 min. and did rock the truck to move the gas around in the tank. HELP!!!!
