How do I get the drivers side passenger door open?

Asked by Dec 28, 2016 at 01:54 AM about the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe LT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The past 6 months, every now and then, the driver's side passenger door
would take a few times pulling on the outside door handle to open the door.
Never thought too much about it because it didn't happen that often.  But now,
the door won't open at all - inside or outside door handle.  Did something
break off inside???  And, if so, how do you get it open to get the panel off???

This is a labor intensive project, the seat has too be removed from inside and you need some special trims tools to pop away the panel and some replacement clips as there will be some that break but it can be done, but it is not a job for a novice, as you were having problems opening it before it totally failed the chances are high that the latch assembly needs replaced.

Is there anyway to open it or release it from the window after rolling window down?

There is usually a plate right over the lever you need to get too, it is part of the anti theft devices to prevent the use of a slim jim. You can try your luck.
