06 Jetta TDI blown engine fix or sell for parts?

Asked by Jul 19, 2014 at 08:47 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Question type: General

My 06 TDI Jetta has a bad Thrust Bearing and the mech says new engine needed.  The
car is still in good shape otherwise.  130k miles.  New engine is about $6k.

So new engine or sell for parts?

How much is a used engine? That engine should be good for 300,000 + miles.

I have seen used engines with 100k miles on them for about $2500 and up depending on the mileage
