Transmission shifts hard when it warms up

Asked by Jul 18, 2015 at 07:32 PM about the 2000 Dodge Caravan Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shifts hard when under acceleration and
then you back off. I've changed fluid and
filter, that helped a little. It was original
filter. It has 155k on it

Have your Shift Control Solinold checked it. It mounts to the side of the transmission and the shifter cable goes to it.

Hmm, original filter? Don't tell me that you were the original owner? I just can't believe that. Normally, people are more concerned when you cannot feel it shifting, unless it's a CVT. CVT was not common back in 2000. So, how long have you really owned this vehicle? Dodge Caravan was not generally known for being reliable. Good luck.
