keeps stalling out when the outside temp hot like over 85"
86 mustang, will not keep running,go about 5 or 10 miles and stops dead with
no gas in the carb, pure something in carb and go another 5 or 50 miles and
the samething again. but will run all night long in cooler weather ??
Sounds like a vapor lock problem, check the fuel lines for proper routing, make sure they aren't close to any heat source, sometimes wrapping the lines in a heat reflective wrap will help. Also check the return fuel line, make sure it is not pinched or restricted in any way. This is assuming that you have already checked the fuel pressure and flow for any air bubbles, if you are getting air bubbles then there is a leak in the fuel pickup inside the tank. HTH
I was told by a ford man,it was the carbon filter tank, replaced it with the same old problem exists. if it was the fuel lines,it would do it all the time, not only when it gets hot,you can drive this car all winter with no problem..
Thats why I believe that it is a vapor lock. Ford use to have the wrap for just that problem but don't anymore so it will have to be aftermarket wrap.
Thank You that will be something to look into, I always though it to be a gas problem but not the pump. its got that EFI carb ...
