aod slipping
our 1989 msc mclaren is having teouble with the aod slipping; what should we look for to fix it??? No problems until now.
are you talking about automatic overdrive ? If so, check the fluid level, make sure the screen is not clogged. It may be the overdrive planetary, which will be expensive. Please award points if this helps

when was the last fluid & filter changed,when a older ford tranny starts slipping,time for a rebuild,sounds like the od clutches are burning up.
1989 Mustang GT Cobra. AOD Engages in gear and doesn't slip when its cold, however once it begins to warm then I get slippage and doesn't want to engage in to gear. Fluid is full and doesn't smell burnt, no signs of metal/debris in the fluid. Any suggestions from a more experienced AOD guy? I have another transmission to swap out but I'd prefer on trouble shooting a possible fix before hand. I also have a new cooler to install if I can resolve the issue.
Hi, I got a similar issue with my 92 AOD transmission, some years ago, I started playing with the TV cable from the throttle body assembly for some reason I forgot, maybe was taking things apart to clean or so, well the OD band got messed up and I lost OD on my car, two years ago i took my car to a shop where some crooks made the worst and cheapest rebuilt job ever. Soon my car was heavily leaking trans fluid. And since then when fluid goes low, I mean like a quart of fluid low my transmission when cold starts slipping at the first three gears, I can smell the fluid when it starts leaking and when I refill the lacking fluid, it shifts good. But still sometimes when cold it acts weird. I took the car to a friend, He said some gaskets from the transmission were leaking from the one's connecting transmission to engine, and from the shaft in the back, He said they were not changed, and he said chances are the torque converter was going out also. My question is: I'm tired of hear transmission people wants me to rebuild the whole thing again so they charge me more, and I would like only to have maybe a new torque converter and new seals/ gaskets replaced WITHOUT rebuilding the whole thing for I know it's not needed. So, in that case, HOW would I be able to find an HONEST shop that are willing to ONLY replace the parts I mentioned without scam me saying I need the whole transmission needs to be rebuilt?
