How will changing to a K&N air filter affect a 2007 V-6 Mustang?
K&N air filters are reported to increase horsepower by about 5-10 hp on average, as well as to increase gas mileage, and cause a slightly more throaty intake whine on acceleration. Your own results may vary, as even K&N has not guaranteed any change upon installation of the filter.
Changing the air filter to a K&N will provide a nominal gain in horsepower , but , the oil in the air filter can lead to gumming up the throttle body and plate area . This can lead to a step down in performance , and may cause drivability problems , if left unresolved ( cleaning the throttle body ) Some manufacturers might void warranty if this type of air filter is installed. If you do want a gain in horsepower , you should get an upgrade air inlet kit , it comes with a new air filter , and ducting .( K&N sells them )
