Are the hitch recievers interchangable? A v8 listed to tow 6800 lbs with a 1" reciever.

Question type: General

I'm looking at a 2007 Sport Trac with a V8 that is listed to tow 6800 lbs.  Problem is it has the very small hitch receiver on it, 1" maybe.  Are these interchangeable?  I need it for towing.

So it has the OEM 1 1/4" receiver and you want a 2". They sell adapters but what are you towing? You can purchase a new 2" receiver and add that. Not sure if you would have to remove the old one. I use www.etrailers.com
