transmission problem with 2007 ford escape.

Asked by Sep 07, 2014 at 02:13 PM about the 2007 Ford Escape XLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I pulled out of the store and the transmission started whining.  It wouldn't shift until I hit approx 40 miles and hour and the o/d light had started blinking.. When I turned the car off the o/d light seemed to reset but the shifting problem continued.  could it be a sensor or did something snap inside the transmission.?

Check the fluid level first, is the fluid burnt or low?

Yup, check the fluid first. Hopefully you didn't do any damage. If the O/D light is blinking that means the trans is overheating and or has a problem. Whining is not good.
