my 07 escape man trans, isn't getting good gas mileage .

it has a new (not rebuilt) engine and i figure it should get much better than its getting i
travel 60 miles one way to work and have to fill up twice a week. the trip is mostly highway  
with little traffic.

About how many miles are on your new engine? It takes a few thousand miles for everything to break in and be working at optimum efficiency. I once did a simple tune up and lost about 3 MPG. After about 2,000 miles the new spark plugs got broken in and my gas mileage came back. HTH. -Jim
