4wd transfer case

Asked by Aspen9371 Jan 19, 2017 at 03:03 PM about the 2007 Chrysler Aspen Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Actually I have an answer to the transfer
case kicking 4wd on and off.  Unlock door
with remote causes it as well as just
randomly kicking in.  Had to replace
transfer case "motor" $200 and the air
conditioning electric control.  They are
wired together for some idiocy but problem
fixed and done.  Good luck

If your key fob causes the 4WD to kick in an out you have another problem, probably with the ECU.

I have a 2008 Chrysler Aspen, I had the same issues with the 4 wheel drive shifting to low in and out of neutral. I replaced the transfer case motor. My question is, now since I replaced the motor the service 4 wheel drive light is on and will not actuate. Was I suppose to do anything special when I installed this or is there fuses I need to look for?

Did you get the Aspen fixed? What was the root cause? I am having the same issue.

I think the same here. The a/c compressor's cooling fan is running on high, in January without the a/c being in use, and the Aspen is somehow going into neutral during turns! There is also a sound of something "sliding" coming from underneath the vehicle even when the vehicle is off. I don't use the remote fob so I can't comment on that but the service 4wd light comes on occasionally. Thanks for any help with this.
