2007 Chevy Monte Carlo started making a tapping sound in the engine.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Chevy Monte Carlo started making a tapping sound in the engine. So I
quit driving it until I can find out whats wrong.  Could it be a rocker arm or a
valve. Rockers have been pulled and one is slightly worn.  Could one rocker
arm make the tapping sound? Should one or all  be replaced? Or could the
tapping sound be something else. I don't know who to trust when it comes to
my Monte Carlo

If replacing all should be replaced. A lot of time a worn rocker will show itself by being pushed over to one side far enough to make noise. Check for bent push rods, pull and roll on flat surface look for wobble its bad and see if oil galleries are clean, not clogged up, change them all out if any are or worn on the ends.
