2007 Monte Carlo- key turns, power goes out, it won't start and the ignition locks the key in it. Seems as though the computer resets and then it will allow me to perform the same again.

Sounds like a bad battery cable connection. Be sure that the connections are clean and tight for both cables at both ends. HTH. -Jim

Actually, the computer wasn't recognizing my key. Disconnected the positive battery connection to reset the computer and it corrected the issue
