Hi Shawn,If your vehicle is equipped with a automatc tran smission, the 4th gear you talking about is an overdrive gear. Most likely your are feeling it shifting like you said driving around in town. While driving, the faster you go the transmission will shift gears 1st gear,2nd gear,3rd gear, then it will go into the overdrive gear if needed the faster you go.Thats a normal shift for your transmission,it will shift back and forth depending on your speed.I hope that helped!

It doesn't do it all the time if I go faster through the gears it's fine but if I drive slow seems to want to shift back and forth through third and fourth

When you say slow how slow are you going?

Like when your doing a slow acceleration all the way up through the gears . And at about 50 or there abouts when it shifts from 3rd to 4th is when I can feel it like it's shifting back and fourth ?

Hi Shawn, yea your transmission is shifting into overdrive at around 50 mph and then back into 3rd gear as you decline in speed, all which is normal activity and should cause no harm.
