check engine light is on

Asked by Jan 05, 2014 at 05:53 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LT3

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi there
I have a 2007 Chevy equinox, every time I accelerate on the highway and reach 75
mi/hr engine light come on and when I go down hill its start flashing then stop when
driving on level roads. A licensed mechanic check the car and he said you have a miss
fire codes but he is thinking the EGR is the problem. this problem began 18 months
ago and I still driving the car with no other problems. the only thing bather me about
this problem is that the remote starter does not work until the check engine light off
and this happen after one or two days when its came on, but if I keep driving the car
on highway with speed over 60 mi/hr, then the light will stay on. need an explanation
please. thank you.

Find another mechanic or get the car scanned at any local auto parts store for free. Post the 4 digit code back here.

I agree with Tom. Have it scanned at autozone ,advance and post the code and what it says when they read it. They will do it for free.

A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and the catalytic converter is being damaged. If you've been driving like this for the past 18 months, put a catalytic converter on your shopping list. HTH. -Jim

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox the code is 0p300 random multiple misfire. I already replaced the converter. I got new wires and plugs in March along with the new coil pack. Have the catalytic converter replaced after all of that. Now my car has a check engine light on whenever I reach 30 mph it flashes. Any suggestions?
