CAR WON'T START [URGENT]

Asked by Tlawson99 Aug 03, 2019 at 12:01 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 Chevy Cobalt will not start. Absolutely no noise on
key turn. BUT, apon turning the key, there's a haze of smoke
that come from under the hood. Possibly the engine or
something else. I don't know much about cars clearly. Any
Ideas? Was it an oil problem? I would hate to have to spend
money on something that I though was the problem, but
wasn't!

A haze of smoke before the car is started is usually an electrical fire. Some wiring is burning, maybe the battery cables or a wire off the starter. Further investigation is required. Call AAA or roadside assistance if you have any.

The smoke only occures when I turn the key in attempt to start the car. It's no large ongoing puff of smoke at all. It's just a small haze of smoke for every time I turn the key.
