My Maintenance light stays on and I recently bought the car. I know there is no way to diagnos it this way but based on my fear factor what could it be if it would be put on the best and/or the worst?

Your right, there is no way to diagnose it without knowing the symptoms and having a code. Drive it over to a local auto parts store and have them scan the car for you. Should be free. Post the 4 digit code back here.
