When I go to put gas in my 2008 Jeep Patriot the nozzle keeps shutting off?
Don't shove the nozzle in all the way against that black splash- guard. Leave about 3 inches of space between it and your car and things should work out fine.
I tried that. Still, I was standing at the pump every 20-40 seconds and it kept shutting off.
you Tube showed a video from a guy named Scotty Kilmer who said it might be an Evam valve problem.
He said there is a rubber tube that goes from the gas hole to a charcoal canister under the hood and sometimes the tube gets clogged and needs compressed air to blow out debris or a clog. Also, the canister may be filled with gas.
I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and resolved it before I have my friend look at it or go to the dealer where they will be expensive.
Sounds like the vent valve for the EVAP system is stuck closed. HTH. -Jim
