Question type: Car Customization

Hi i have a 2007 2.5i impreza special edition, i just blew my engine in my car and subaru bay wants me to pay 3k for a used engine rebuilt, but i know you can get a STI engine for the 2007 wrx model, i want to know if the STI engine would work in my car knowing that the STI engine is only 4k with the tranny my car is in prefect condition every thing is perfect accept the engine in blown so i was thinking bout spending an extra 1k on the sti engine. IS this possible??

how did you blow a subaur motor that's only 4 years old??? anyway to answer your question, yes it is possible to use that motor in the car but it will take more than just the motor, you'll need the trans and ECU as well, I'm not certain but you may also need the sti drive spindles and hub as well, cos wise it's not effective, if you want a WRX or an STI pay the 3k for a stock motor sell your car and buy one, it would be cheaper or at least the same cost in the long run and the car wouldn't be in the shop for as long, also you would have to find a shop willing to do the swap (unless you can do it yourself) most of your average shops won't take on a project like that, especially dealerships, you would have to find a shop that does custom work on a regular basis and also pay the labor fees which would be conciderable. So as I said "possible" yes "practical" no.
