Growling on startup in cold weather

Asked by Jan 08, 2016 at 06:02 PM about the 2008 Pontiac G8 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 Pontiac G8 growls and engine stutters only when I start it in cold
weather. I have been told the A/C compressor may be going bad although ac
works fine and makes no noise of any kind...i.e.  sqeeling, hissing, whinning.
Can you advise as to what the problem amy be.

Might be the compressor bearing or another pulley or belt tensioner. When you start the car, open the hood and inspect to see where the noise is originating from. That could be your start of diagnosing the noise and symptom.

Good advice. Your next step would be to have the codes read. There may be a sensor doing something weird.
