I want slightly larger tires but want the factory wheels. Don't want to go to big but I want off road tires
Go to tire rack.com they have a great site. You can see your Hummer in your color, change the wheels and tire sizes with the click of the mouse.
You can usually go up one size wider, but I would stick with stock height that way the speedo will stay accurate. BFG makes a good off road tire and so does TOYO. I have TOYO's on both of my rigs now, so far so good.
Factory is 265/65/18. Are you suggesting 265/70/18? I did see that size on tirerack.com
Yup that's what tennisshoes is talking about.
275/65/18 is the next step up, and you would want to go with the LT series, so it would read: LT275/65/18 I did find that quite a few others went with a 285/65/18 and had good tire clearance but stayed away from the LT series, you might find a good Mud Track tire that you could find beneficial for off road. Woth a look anyway. HTH
If I go with 275/70/18 they won't stick out will they? As in being to wide. I don't want that look.
Stick with the 65 series and go to the light truck style. They would read: LT265/65/18 or if going 1 step wider LT275/65/18. Once you find the size you like then you can decide on tread, mud tires are usually the most aggressive and tend to howl on the highway, there are quite a few different styles of all terrains some more aggressive than others, these are what a lot of people run as they are both good highway as well as for off road, then there are the highway tires, they are only for highway usage, you can get stuck on level grassy field with these tires (personal experience there) the choice is yours, if you are concerned with the tires sticking out than stay completely stock on the size and go the light truck for a good selection of tread. HTH
Thx for the info. Do you know of any websites that will show pics of your vehicle with different tires so you can see how it looks?
Not really, most what to sell you wheels that have that capability, tire rack had something in the works but I don't know if it is up and running, Americas tire store and discount tire, might be worth a try.
If anybody has pics of a Hummer H3 with LT275/70/18 please email me the pics. Or even LT275/65/18. firstname.lastname@example.org
