o/d light is flashing lost 2 and 4 gear

other than the band breaking, what else might be the problem.

Transmission is almost certainly toast. The fix for almost all transmission problems is a full rebuild. Is the fluid red, brown or black?

Red is good but that does not mean the transmission is good. It does mean the fluid is not burnt.
