disable the car alarm

Asked by baggadonuts Nov 30, 2014 at 12:15 PM about the 2007 Kia Rondo LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The theft alarm goes off for no obvous reason on my 2007 Kia Rondo.  I lock the car and later it just goes off while no one is close to it.  Locking the car with my key does not make a difference.   I want to disable the alarm but the Owner's manual does not point out which component to unplug.  Is there a simple way to disable the car alarm?

I would remove the fuse for the horn until I located the problem ... of course put the fuse back when you drive ( A real PITA but at least your neighbors may get some sleep) ... providing only the horn is on that circuit

I don’t have the remote. I bought a key but when put in the ignition, it beeps. The key does not turn in the ignition or door. The doors cannot be locked from the button inside. The dealer said I have no other choice but to tow the vehicle and purchase a new remote and have it programmed there. It is going to cost $250. Is there another way to manually disable the alarm? 2007 Kia Sedona EX.
