Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all,

I recently had my throttle body replaced after it shut off at a stop
light(prompting throttle codes). The very next day it stalled for the first time
while at a stop light. It stalls every 2-4 days only when at a stop or coming
to a stop(braking). I had the crankshaft position sensor replaced which
caused the car to not stall for about 7 days but now it is continuing to stall
again intermittently. I had the fuel pump checked; there are no valve leaks
or anything "wrong" with the car. Mechanics are having a hard time not
being able to duplicate the stall so I’m fishing for suggestions. I don't want
to just throw parts at the problem hoping it fixes it but want to find out what
the real source is. If you have any insight please let me know!

When it stalls... there is no noise, no abrupt feeling. I simply go to
accelerate and realize I’m not going anywhere, realize the car stalled then
cycle the key about 3 or 4 times and it starts right up and I continue on my
way. On every other forum where people talk about stalling they typically
are unable to restart right away as where I AM able to restart instantly.

exact same thing occurs on my 2005 lr3...i timed it ..it usually occurs after about 22-25 miles driven. stalls out, could be on freeway, on street , going 25 miles per hour or 55 miles per hour.

update......i took it to my local land rover dealer and they diagnosed it as a faulty ignition coil switch (i think thats what he called it) $550 parts and labor out the door. i will pick it up tomorrow and drive it around and see if it solved my problem.

2nd update....paid $485 after they replaced the ignition coil switch i went to pick up my vehicle, they told me the problem remained.... they then said it must be a sensor in the alternator gave me an estimate of $1350 .... went to a reputable alternator guy he replaced it... drove it for 20 miles then it stalled, so then i replaced my brake light switch, problem persists

I'm having the same issue with my 2014 LR4-keeps stalling out in the midst of driving. Happened 6x in past 2 weeks. At dealership for 3rd time now, each time they say they found the issue and fixed it but it happens again within a few days. Did you ever get to the root of why yours was stalling out?

My husband and I bought a 2006 Land Rover LR3 and it ran great to Oregon when we took it during the 1st year. We came home and started runningn into all kinds of issues the one we are dealing with right now is the same thing you are all talking about! Many people say it might be the Fuel Pump... Fuel Injection, or what I hear is a sensor..... this is ridiculous because my husband and I own the machine that reads the codes and can tells us what is wromg with it but the machine doesn't pick it up at all and doesn't gives us any codes as to whats wrong with it or what it can be! I called a friend to ask her about the 1st problem we had run into because she owned one... and she said she got rid of it a long time ago because it is a problematic car... it always had issues. I personally think these Car suck! I want to trade mine in for something reliable! If you guys figure out the problem can you email me back....? Missaguirre84@gmail.com

I’m having the same issue. I replaced the camshaft and crankshaft, and it worked for a while. Now the car is staking again. Any updates?

I have been chasing this problem for 5 years since purchasing Landrover Freelander. Cannot accelerate after stopping for lights or roundabout or intersection. Does not stall but codes not respond to accelerator. No codes or dash changes.Have replaced filters, crank sensor and about to change maf sensor. Home page flashed momentarily during last episode so battery maybe next. Can do long 1500 km journey with no problem then get home and 2 mins up road starts the problem again. Very strange. No dealer has found any reason, new mechanic with 27 years experience is tearing his hair out. Problem may kill me as trapped momentarily in intersections several times now with cars bearing down on me. Will never buy Landrover ever again. Love everything else but nor worth dying for.
