2003 s-type, all the buttons on the steering stopped functioning, cruise controll, stereo adjustment, even the horn stopped working, and the buttons don't light up anymore

Clockspring mechanism broke, it is located between the steering wheel and the column. Recommend that you have a shop fix it as you will be dealing with air bags.
