9-3 2.0T engine seized?
Okay about 2 months ago my girl was driving to
work and the car had only gone 3 miles when the
car shut off and managed to have people push it
to the side of the road. We had it towed and I've
been working on it sense, I work for a parts store
so I know plenty but I'm about to give up hope. I
have replaced cps, a new starter, battery, mass air,
air filter, plugs and one ignition coil ( one was
fouled up), starter and ignition relays, but I still
can't get the fly wheel to turn with the new starter,
a coffee appears as a p0300 which is a multiple
misfire, gas is still pressured in the lines, I can hear
the pump come on, weird note when the cars on
and I hit the backlight the fuel gauge drops, still
the engine won't turn over at all, oil is fine
If you pull all the spark plugs and put a strong arm and socket on the end of the crankshaft pulley bolt, you should be able to move it by hand. If you can't, chances are it is frozen up.
You work at a parts store and know plenty? That's a good one.
If you work at a parts store (like me) then you should know that the only two things on your list that would prevent the engine from turning over if they failed are the battery and the starter!! Throwing parts and money at it is no way to diagnose a problem!! Do as Rowefast said and let us know what you find out. The fact that the gas gauge drops to empty when you switch on the instrument cluster lights tells me there's a bad ground involved here. Do you have an aftermarket stereo installed? If so check that first for the bad ground. HTH. -Jim
okay its not siezed up but i have tore it down and its the timing chain that is loose and has skipped timing, now i haven't tore everything down to see if it has messed up anything else kinda hard to work in the dark without the proper lighting. thanks for the comments
Saab is not on my list for to see if it is an interference engine. You may want to investigate to see if your engine is an interference engine. If it is, you may have bent valves.
trying to find a timing set is kinda a pain my store doesn't have the whole set but trying to think of the damage overall but i still need to tear out the engine to gain full access of the damage or ifs just slipped timing :(
yes by the way it is a interference engine
So you're looking at having the head(s) rebuilt too. At this point, ask yourself if it's worth it on an 11 year old vehicle. HTH. -Jim
Timing set is available on rockauto.com for $78.79 plus shipping. HTH. -Jim
