how to fix hatch lock

the struts that hold up the hatch dont work so i have been using my basebat to keep it up when i need to use the trunk. yesterday was doing some cleaning and when i went to close the trunk it would not close all the way. how do i fix this it is very important for security reasons ?

You might have twisted the hatch out of alignment from using the bat. Take a look at the hinges. Open the hatch again and see where it isn't engaging the latch. BTW: Swap out the gas supports, they are only like $15 a piece and only require a flat blade screwdriver to replace.
