jaguar 2006 x type needs a new timing chain and tensionaires.etting a quote of $4500 for all parts and labor. Also going to clean out oil sludge in engine. is this in the ball park?
The car monitor said check catalytic converter. It was skipping at slow speeds. brought to a Jag dealer and they had to take most of the engine apart before physically seeing the timing chain skip. Needs to replace that and tension for $4,500 plus clean out engine from oil sludge. Is this in the ball park?
It has two on the 3.0 . $5,639 both. One $2864. No typo. And that's just for tensioner, not including new chain(s) https://www.automd.com/iq/quote-details/?quote_id=2960826
I was a Jag dealer in the 60's and there is not a lot of difference in the twin cam design of then and now. I would guess in todays prices anything under $6000 would be a fair price if the workmanship is excellent.
